Honors Courses
Honors courses are offered in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language. Students must meet subject-specific requirements and receive a teacher recommendation to register. Honors courses emphasize Pre-AP concepts and serve to prepare students for more advanced university credit eligible courses.

University Credit Eligible Courses

Advanced Placement:

Admission to Advanced Placement courses is by teacher recommendation based on past performance in classes and standardized tests. Advanced Placement courses are college level courses. At the end of each course, students should take the national exam offered by the College Board in May. The college or university a student attends may award credit or placement based on the score a student receives on each AP exam they take. Students in AP courses must take the Father Lopez course final exam offered by their teacher.

Dual Enrollment:

Father Lopez students in 11th through 12th grades have the exciting opportunity to earn college credits while attending high school! Our dual enrollment agreement with Daytona State College is expanding. This program is offered at no additional tuition cost to you. The only costs for the program are textbooks and some testing fees (see below).

The dual enrollment program is being developed as an effort to allow students to experience college-level classes in preparation for future AP classes and college coursework. Students participating in this program are expected to do college-level work, and will be held to college standards for grading.

Full-year dual enrollment sequence classes (with the exception of the Student Success/Study Skills course) will count toward the AP course requirement for our Summa Cum Laude diploma.

Students enrolled in the dual enrollment program are considered Daytona State College Students. With their Daytona State ID card, they may use all DaytonaState facilities, participate in some sports and arts programs, and take night classes as desired... ALL FOR FREE!

Eligibility:

Students must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted cumulative G.P.A and passing scores from any one of the following tests to gain admission:

SAT: 440 Reading, 440 Math
ACT: 18 Reading, 17 Writing, 19 Math
CPT: (Daytona State Placement Test) 83 Reading, 83 Writing, 72 Math

The CPT should be taken at the end of the student's sophomore year in order to begin dual enrollment classes in the fall. ContactDaytonaState Assessment Services at (386) 506-3067 to arrange for a testing date.

Students interested in dual enrollment will meet with the Father Lopez Dual Enrollment Coordinator in the spring. At that meeting, registration and testing information and instructions will be provided.
